Jeffrey Fashion Cares in Atlanta on August 25

Now in its 22nd year, Jeffrey Fashion Cares kicked off fall fashion season at the American Cancer Society Center in Atlanta on Monday, August 25.  And guess who got to attend?

Me.  It was me.

Founded by Jeffrey Kalinsky (arbiter of style and creator of two namesake boutiques in Atlanta and Manhattan), JFC’s theme this year was Prevention in Pairs to raise awareness for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Greater Atlanta Affiliates and Atlanta AIDS fund.

“It always takes two to move through a difficult illness like AIDS or breast cancer, so we figured what better theme to celebrate our 22nd Jeffrey Fashion Cares and help our beneficiaries!” says Lila Hertz, 2014 Event Co-Chair, in a statement about the event.

Upon my arrival, I pulled up to see The Bachelorette‘s Andi Dorfman and fiance Josh Murray taking pictures with fans outside the venue.  Because I’m a professional, I refrained from mobbing the two of them and headed inside to the reception.

Platinum Reception

The Platinum Reception kicked off at 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of the American Cancer Society Center, where guests mingled and enjoyed cocktails until the red carpet arrivals began around 7:00 p.m.

Red carpet arrivals included founder Jeffrey Kalinsky (obviously) along with event co-chairs Jeffrey McQuithy, Lila Hertz, and Louise Sams, Chilli from TLC, The Bachelorette‘s Andi Dorfman and fiancé Josh Murray, author Emily Giffin, 11Alive’s Melissa Long, Fox 5 Atlanta’s Lisa Rayam, Susan Been, Vickie Palefsky, Kristin Klingshirn (The Bert Show | Q100), Claire Wire, Christine Pullara (11Alive’s Atlanta & Company), and Ginny Brewer.

And, as I said, me.  Though somehow I flew under the radar and was able to avoid the flood of paps that were surrounding everyone else.  What a relief.

The Auction

The auction kicked off with Andi Dorfman spontaneously walking the runway displaying a gorgeous Cathy Waterman ring that she tried on backstage while chatting with Jeffrey Kalinsky.

The top-selling live auction item went for a cool $16K.  What was it?  Two tickets to the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles, and dinner for two at STK Los Angeles.  Jealous?  Me, too.

The Fashion Show

Obviously the highlight of the night.  The show featured Kalinsky’s style selections from designers such as Lanvin, Celine, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Erdem, Saint Laurent Paris, Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik.  Check out the slideshow of my favorite looks below.

Emily is an over-enthusiastic lover of music, books, movies, fashion, and culture in general. Her love of music spans across all genres (what is a genre anymore? she waxes poetic to herself), though she was nursed on true punk and will never understand “redneck country” music – tractors are not and cannot be sexy. Emily currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and considers herself to be a great wit, though she is still waiting on validation from a credible source.
